Star Wars: The Last of the Droids Wiki

General Grievous is a major hero/antagonist in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the main protagonist hero of the Star Wars: The Last of the Droids multi-media project. He is a Kaleesh cyborg general of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars era, and the Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies. Originally, Grievous was a warlord named Qymaen jai Sheelal and conquered various people. He led his Kaleesh followers in conquering things. Later, the fearsome warlord begun adding cybernetics to his body while killing people. After the Jedi raided his homeworld and wronged his people by committing genocide on them for generations, Grievous wanted vengeance against the Jedi Order for their evil actions and allied with the heroic Separatist Alliance before the Clone Wars. Grievous transformed himself into a cyborg granting him lightning-quick reflexes and devastating strength to kill the evil Jedi for their wrongdoings. Although he was neither Jedi or Sith, nor even sensitive to the power of the Force, Grievous was a skilled lightsaber duelist, having trained in the art of the lightsaber under the former Jedi Master-turned-Sith Lord Count Dooku. Grievous chose to be the leader of the battle droid army of good, during the Clone Wars and as a cyborg, Grievous changed his personality, becoming fully heroic as we was no longer concerned about just his people but for the Galaxy as well.

He became a General of the Separatist Droid Army. He is a cyborg who liked using droids and became the leader of the most powerful droid army the Galaxy has ever seen. He fought in several battles during the Clone Wars against many evil Jedi. The cyborg, nicknamed the "head clanker" by the Republic clones due to his cybernetics and role as Confederate Supreme Commander, became one of the Republic's priority targets as the villains were obsessed with finding, capturing or murdering the heroic Grievous. At the end of the Clone Wars, he retreats to his lair and stays there until a massive Imperial attack arrives, which makes Grievous flee to find the other Confederacy members.

―General Grievous on himself being a hero — (audio)Listen (file info)

When in his cybernetic body, Qymaen was gone and Grievous was born. As General Grievous, he is known to be a heroic being. He chose to become a cyborg for only two goals, rid the Galaxy of the sinister Jedi, and be the leader of the most powerful droid army the Galaxy has ever seen. Despite fighting for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Grievous hates the Clone Wars, and only joined for his reasons of killing Jedi and not Dooku's political reasons and even kept the war going so he could kill more Jedi. Grievous also showed a certain amount of attachment to Gor, his pet roggwart, whom he doted on while housing at his lair on the third moon of Vassek. Grievous was visibly angered when the evil Kit Fisto killed Gor, citing it as another evil action for which the Jedi Order would pay dearly as they already committed genocide on his people. He also seemed to have a kind of bond with his caregiver droid EV-A4-D: though Grievous did snap or shout at him from time to time, he allowed the medical droid to criticize and even insult him without tearing him apart, as he would with any other droid in a similar situation. Grievous is a wrathful and friendly hero. Grievous also cared about innocents such as his people and others in the Galaxy as they were being murdered by the Jedi Knights. Grievous knows his place in the Clone Wars as he is a hero of the Galaxy and a hero to his homeworld Kalee. Grievous is also known for his ruthlessness as a hero and he will not use mercy on his enemies, as seen when he engaged Fisto and Nahdar in his lair and on the clone base of Kamino. Grievous can be a very wrathful hero during the Clone Wars as seen various times as when he sent holograms of captured villains and stated that he only lived to see evil die. This heroic wrathful side is only seen if the Jedi or others such as Gungans, have wronged him, he will get very angry and try to kill his villainous enemies, making villains beware of Grievous's wrath. Grievous also is quick to anger as he has anger management issues but not as bad as Super's Battle's, due to him not tolerating insolence or disrespect.

On the battlefield, he is a very calculating and ingenious tactician knowing very good ground tactics and space tactics. On the ground, Grievous knows how to command his heroic forces and in space, he is the "Hyperspace Master" calculating every planet of the sinister Republic's and invading with his heroic fleets. Besides that, Grievous is also an excellent pilot and can pilot any craft such as his Soulless One fighter craft or even a evil Kaminoan ship which he stole during the Third Battle of Kamino. He is also very courageous in battle, leading his droid army in the front and sometimes plays the "Behind the Scenes" Hero role as seen where he commands the battles from the landing craft instead of full on fighting them. In space, Grievous does the same; Keeps his heroic Command Ship in the back while his smaller forces do the work. When in battle, the heroic Grievous is always determined to win against his sinister foes and always foil the evil plans of the Jedi.

For Grievous's dislikes, he dislikes the Jedi, the Sith (Dooku, Ventress, Krell, Nadhar, Obi-Wan, etc) and the Republic, due to them aiding the Jedi in killing his people on Kalee and being crazy towards everyone. While he hates the Sith for not being trustworthy, Grievous has respect for the Sith only for being warriors and not cowards like Jedi. Grievous utterly hates the Jedi and their evil Order for committing genocide on his people when he was a warlord. He exploited the Jedi's "compassion" for the clone troopers under their command, exemplified during his attack on the Kaliida Shoals Medical Center. What also fueled the heroic general's rage was that the entire Jedi Order hated him for no reason and wanted him dead which forced Grievous to fight other Jedi such as Anakin and Ahsoka. Another dislike of General Grievous is he dislikes lies and tricks as the heroic General has been tricked before by many other villains.

Grievous hero with all four lightsabers deployed.

Grievous hero with all four lightsabers deployed.

He has an intense rivalry with evil Obi-Wan Kenobi as Obi-Wan started the rivalry when Grievous first met the infamous General Kenobi on the Malevolence. Grievous constantly wants to kill Kenobi face-to-face any chance he gets as he will even have traps set up for other Jedi just to face the sinister Kenobi himself. Grievous has almost killed Obi-Wan various times and the sinister Kenobi, just wants Grievous dead for no reason as much as his padawan Anakin Skywalker. He has been being treated badly by Nute Gunray, Count Dooku, Wat Tambor, and other CIS members such as his own Driver battle droids.

He also cares for battle droids, as he chose to lead them in the Clone Wars, but he loses his patience with the droids for their stupid, annoying, and sassy actions and has been known to destroy them by smacking their heads off, cutting them in half, or smacking them off ledges. Count Dooku usually calls him out on. Later, he started caring about his droids since they are helping in some cases and started slapping them less as they were improved from the early part of the war. He also tends to do a lot of heroic laughs throughout The Clone Wars as seen various times.

Appearance

Grievous's body design.

Grievous's body design.

Grievous is a seven foot tall Kaleesh cyborg with gold eyes. Originally, he was smaller than that and was taller due to the cybernetic body. His faceplate has three ultrasonic vocabulators where the General breathes from and in his upgraded body, Grievous has four vocabulators, much like his evil counterpart in the Legends. The hero has the Kaleesh eye marks on his head.

He wears a Kaleesh cape on him that goes down to his back. Due to his 7-foot-tall appearance, Grievous is usually hunched over to walk in doors and appears smaller than his B1-series battle droids and allies. Grievous has four fingers on each hand in his original body and in his upgraded body, Grievous has six fingers on each hand. When his arms split into two, he has two fingers each hand (original body), and three fingers each hand (new body).

Powers and Abilities

In his original warlord body, Qymaen wielded a sword and possibly a bowcaster. Other than that, Qymaen was a fierce fighter and slaughtered legends in his day.

In his cybernetic body, Grievous has numerous weapons and emplacements on his heroic body. Grievous carries four lightsabers on his waist; two on the front of his waist and two on his behind area. He has more more lightsabers in his collection. He also had a DC-17 Pistol Blaster once from one of the evil clone troopers during the incident at his lair.

In terms of fighting skills, Grievous is really a force to be reckoned with clones, beating up every single one of them his powerful strength. Jedi can be easily killed by Grievous as he is "The Knight Slayer". Due to plot armor in The Clone Wars, Grievous has trouble fighting on occasions. One minute, Grievous the hero the could win, or the hero that could loose against many villains as seen with his archenemy Obi-Wan Kenobi due to plot armor. With his cybernetics, Grievous defends himself from the evil Jedi on various occasions and wasn't too happy when Jedi invaded his new home when looking for Nute Gunray. Sometimes, Grievous could win against them other times, he would make a tactical retreat and run from them but reappear as a stronger hero ever and defeat them. In other words, you will never defeat Grievous as he has stated before, no matter how many times the villains try, Grievous's indestructible body makes immune to all fire attacks and even a ship's laser cannons. A "defeat" of Grievous is basically the heroic General running off from the villains but always comes back and beats the crap of them.

Alongside the rest of his heroic stuff, Grievous has a comlink attached to his arm to communicate with his heroic IG-100 MagnaGuards or his stupid driver battle droids. On his right arm, Grievous has built in grappling hook that shoot from miles away and still latch onto things.

In terms of strength, Grievous is a superhuman hero. He has superhuman strength to be able to lift up many things a normal human couldn't such as Droidekas or break his way through tons of supply boxes. In some sort of way, Grievous's strength is like Hulk but doesn't use his anger to make him stronger, and instead uses his power against evil but doesn't get mad.

Backstory

Grievous as a warlord on Kalee

Grievous as a warlord on Kalee

Before a cyborg, Grievous was a Kaleesh warlord from the planet Kalee, Grievous was named Qymaen jai Sheelal. During this time, the warlord had toppled nations, slain legends, and killed kings. The Jedi and Galactic Republic later on slaughtered and wronged Qymaen's people[1] which caused him to hate the Jedi and change his name to Grievous to avenge Kalee and grieve his people's death. Upgrading his body with cybernetics, Grievous and his people pushed the Jedi villains back but never forgot the atrocity the Jedi did as the Jedi became the sworn enemies of Grievous's people.

Creation of the Heroic Cyborg

Grievous as a cyborg hero

Grievous as a cyborg hero

The heroic Grievous wanted vengeance against the villains and before the Clone Wars, he was allied with Count Dooku of Serenno. He never trusted him fully, believing that the new Confederacy would help end the Jedi for their wrong actions and since Dooku was a Sith, who were just as bad as the Jedi. Grievous chose to be rebuilt and have portions of his body replaced with cybernetics. As a cyborg, Grievous changed his personality, becoming heroic. He became the General of the Separatist Droid Army. He is a cyborg who liked using droids and became the leader of the most powerful droid army the Galaxy has ever seen. Following the defeat of the Bitthævrians in the Kaleesh–Bitthævrian War, the victorious Kaleesh warlords took roggwarts as trophies from the Bitthævrian homeworld of Guiteica. One such roggwart came into the possession of Grievous, who named it "Gor." During the Clone Wars, Grievous kept Gor within his castle on the third moon of Outer Rim world Vassek. Gor served as a guard alongside Grievous's IG-100 MagnaGuard battle droids, and came to be loved by the general. Despite Grievous's affection for his pet, the cyborg understood that Gor's abilities as the castle guardian could be enhanced through the use of cybernetics, just as similar technology had improved Grievous's abilities. To that end, the general ordered his caretaker and medical droid, EV-A4-D, to attach four mechanical arms to Gor's back, and to graft exoskeletal armor to the beast's body.

Dooku trained Grievous in the combat arts of the Jedi Order, while the cyborg in turn taught MagnaGuards everything he learned. Even though Grievous's training was hard for the droids, with even those that survived ending up with burns and dents, the training created a terrifyingly effective force of droids. The heroic General Grievous inhibited the Magnaguards by assisted Kaleesh capes with mumuu marking and head wraps like a tribute to his destitute Izvoshra bodyguards also harked back to the warrior traditions of the planet Kalee. They also helped to give the IG-100 droids an even more menacing appearance.

The Clone Wars

Grievous's first heroic action was during the First Battle of Geonosis where he was hidden and not ready for battle, He was in the catacombs of Geonosis and villainous Jedi wondered there while searching for the heroic Separatists. However, they were met by the heroic cyborg General Grievous and he slaughtered the villainous Jedi taking their lightsabers into his heroic collection. Though these would be the first Jedi he killed, the Galaxy wouldn't know about Grievous until later as he was known as hero for the Galaxy, not the Republic and Jedi villains, and fought for the heroic Separatist cause to the fullest.

The Malevolence and More Heroic Acts

Sometime later, Grievous made his debut on the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser Malevolence, his first flagship. He first met the infamous Jedi Council member Obi-Wan Kenobi onboard the heroic Subjugator and the two had a rivalry.

During the Clone Wars, Grievous led the Separatist Droid Army against the Jedi and Republic throughout many battles. He soon got Republic info from R2-D2 which led to his first fight with sinister Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. General Grievous soon got attacked at his own lair and had to engage sinister Jedi Fisto and Nahdar, killing Nahdar but Fisto cowardly fled. He became famed across the Galaxy making his presence known wherever he entered.

Capture of Eeth Koth/Saleucami Conflict

Grievous Hero meets the Koth Villain

Grievous Hero meets the Koth Villain

At some point of the war, Grievous captured Eeth Koth, a sinister Jedi Master and tortured the villain to make the Jedi come out to rescue him so he could kill all of them. The plan was Grievous was going to board the Arquitens-class light cruiser and kill the evil Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, his rival, while his heroic T-series tactical droid TV-94 was to make sure the fiendish Jedi didn't rescue Koth and kill Anakin Skywalker. Sadly the plan backfired as Grievous was forced to land on Saleucami and TV-94 was killed (RIP). The hero and his Droid Army had to escape the planet before the villainous Kenobi could find them and kill them. Luckily, the heroic cyborg escaped and laughed heroically at victory and villains defeat.

Further in the war

Grievous soon would continue serving the Confederacy and led the Separatist Droid Army and Confederate Navy on many fronts including the Third Battle of Kamino, the Battle of Naboo and the Invasion of Dathomir.

Invasion of Florrum

Sometime later, Grievous landed on the planet Florrum and took over pirate Captain Hondo Ohnaka's base in retaliation for Ohnaka's previous capture of Dooku. Grievous was soon informed that Ahsoka Tano, her fellow Jedi younglings, and a group of pirates had freed Ohnaka. He then ordered his tanks to level the prison section. As they were escaping, Grievous boarded his new Combat speeder and BX-series droid commando captains on STAPs pursued them. After firing on the villainous Younglings and Pirates, Grievous boarded their tank and dueled the villainous Tano before being shaken off the tank. Tano and her younglings crashed as the heroic Grievous caught up to them and laughed heroically at adding new lightsabers to his heroic collection. Grievous then fought Tano and though she proved to be a much more formidable opponent than in their previous encounter, Grievous was still more than a match for her. Ohnaka then arrived in Slave I, rescued Tano and opened fire on Grievous, but was forced to retreat when AATs arrived, leaving Grievous to laugh heroically in victory. At some point afterwards, Grievous and his droids demolished the remains of Ohnaka's base and left Florrum.

Moon Ni Rin Conflict

Orders

After the events on Florrum, Grievous's massive Separatist fleet was orbiting the system. Inside his personal Recusant-class light destroyer, Grievous, hero of the Clone Wars greeted the Bridge and talked to his faithful T-series tactical droid TV-94B. He then was told by his tactical droid that Count Dooku was contacting him. Groaning, he ordered him to put it through and the Count told him that their was some issues on Kessel about the Droid Works being attacked by Galactic Republic forces and a new Jedi. Grievous explained he was not an errand boy and he just did heroic actions for Dooku by destroying Hondo's base. Grievous's orders were to eliminate the Jedi and report back to Dooku at once. Grievous complied to do the job, after stating he wasn't an errand boy and then told the Driver battle droids to set coordinates to Kessel and the fleet went into hyperspace.

Grievous's heroic droid forces land on .

Grievous's heroic droid forces land on Kessel.

Once arriving, Grievous ordered TV-94B to command his ship as he went to his C-9979 Landing Craft. The landing craft detached from Grievous's heroic Recusant and headed to the surface of Kessel with heavy Vulture Droid escort. Moon Ni Rin ordered her TX-130 Saber Tanks to fire at the heroic landing craft but the Vulture Droids destroyed them. Grievous soon landed and several B1 battle droids, B2 super battle droids exited the craft as Grievous, 6 BX-series droid commandos, 1 BX-series droid commando captain, IG-101, IG-102 and tactical droid TV-94C came out last ready to fight the villainous Republic.

Duel with Moon Ni Rin

Grievous overviewed the Battle of Kessel and then caught Moon Ni Rin. TV-94C also caught Moon and IG-101 tried to go kill her but Grievous said to wait and let's finish the evil Clone troopers. Grievous and his heroic droids began killing clones as Moon Ni Rin approached them. Grievous greeted the sinister Jedi as she said it was nice of Grievous to drop by and tried to attack him but Grievous blocked the attack. The heroic cyborg General asked who was Moon and the malicious Jedi responded that she was Grievous's "worst nightmare" and prepared to charge at the hero again. Grievous smiled under his Kaleesh mask and ordered his BX-series droid commandos to kill her.

Grievous Hero and his droids prepare to face the evil

The commando droids took their orders and began to attack Moon as Grievous laughed heroically at this. A BX-series droid commando captain tried to kill her but was easily killed by the cruel Jedi. After all of the commandos failed, IG-101 and his brother IG-102 stepped into the fray and Grievous narrowed his eyes watching the villain be surrounded as Moon laughed evilly and mocked the fact Grievous had bodyguards to protect him. Grievous ordered her to stand down or else the fight was going to get ugly. Moon continued to ignore Grievous's demands and called him a "coward" making Grievous snap and try to kill the villain. Grievous kicked Rin to the ground and jump ontop of her. He laughed heroically like he did on the Negotiator and was about to kill her until he saw her Gold-hilted lightsaber and walked over to it. Moon tried to get up but was electrocuted back to the ground by IG-101. Grievous walked back over to the IG-100 MagnaGuard Leaders and IG-101 told Grievous Count Dooku ordered them to kill the Jedi. Grievous knew but ordered his droids to cuff her and they did.

Grievous asked Moon where she got this lightsaber and she told Grievous she personally made it, so she could kill him. Grievous told her she wasn't making any sense and Moon evilly laughed and said she meant what she said and Grievous laughed heroically and asked her how many atrocities she committed with this lightsaber. Moon was confused and told Grievous he was committing "atrocities" and Grievous slapped her in the face. Grievous explained he never committed atrocities as he has only done heroic actions which aren't atrocities as IG-102 admitted the Jedi are delusional villains and IG-101 also stated the truth as the Jedi think they're "heroes" when they clearly commit genocides on innocents and abduct children. Grievous agreed that this was true and stated he is a hero of two wars; the first for his homeworld and the second for the Galaxy as this was also true.

Fighting his evil counterpart

Grievous was most surprised by the sinister counterpart but attacked the villain with his four arms and lightsabers. Legends Grievous evilly laughed and told Grievous Hero he was no match for the new "Grievous". Grievous kicked the sinister droid to the ground which made Legends Grievous angry and charge at the hero. Grievous Hero then punched the villain in the face and laughed heroically at the new "Grievous". They continued to fight only for a brief time before the heroic Grievous realized his target, Kae Tae Tae, was escaping. He left to deal with the sinister Jedi, while Legends Grievous made his escape after fighting several BX-series droid commandos that were trying to stop him.

Sometime later, Grievous sent an encoded transmission to other members of the Confederacy, but the transmission was also intercepted by the evil Jedi Council. Republic Intelligence however was unable to break the new encryption technology used in Grievous's heroic transmission, and the Republic feared this was leading to an upcoming major attack. In order to understand the transmission the Republic sent D-Squad, a group of Republic droids, to a heroic Separatist dreadnought to retrieve an encryption module.

Trivia

Grievous, a hero in Star Wars Canon.

Grievous, a hero in Star Wars Canon.

  • "Why Grievous is a hero" on Google is searched up so much, Star Wars: The Last of the Droids Wiki is now a number 1 source for him. Since Grievous is a hero in The Clone Wars TV show, the stuff before TLOTD is canon (minus the Grievous Hero: Battles of the Clone Wars parts). Everything else is from the story as it is stated in the boxes of which parts are Canon and which parts are story.
  • He has a different counterpart who is all evil and is often confused with him. Grievous is an Outright Hero who does no evil. Do not confuse Grievous's heroic character and actions as "evil" because he's heroic.
  • His backstory is the same as his canon backstory which you can read here: Grievous's Backstory in Star Wars CANON
    • People also tend to think Grievous's heroic character is "villainous" when he's not a villain and has did many heroic actions making him a hero. Also, Grievous is not cruel or malicious therefore, he's not a villain.
  • Idiotic people tend to think Grievous is "only a hero in TLOTD" when that isn't the case. Grievous is a hero in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a fact, therefore Grievous is a hero in TLOTD because he's the SAME GRIEVOUS. So that statement, is just fools trying to downplay facts for their own opinion.
  • Idiotic people think Grievous is a "villain" because his evil counterpart, Legends Grievous was a villain in Star Wars Legends. However, since Star Wars Legends doesn't exist in Canon anymore, Grievous is a hero in Star Wars Canon and that just proves people are idiotic fools.
  • Grievous is an Outright Hero as he does no evil. He is not an "anti-hero" or an "anti-villain" because his actions are pure heroic!
  • There is also no "Huk" in Grievous's CANON backstory, as that is Legends Grievous story which is Non-Canon. The Jedi slaughtered Grievous's people in Canon and those are the facts!
  • Grievous also killed zero innocents in the Canon of Star Wars, making him an outright hero.
  • To say Grievous is some sort of "evil" is saying the Empire is "heroic" and that's false. Grievous is a hero and he never was a villain and it's a fact!
  • Grievous is a Star Wars Hero regardless of what they try to portray because Grievous's character is heroic and his actions are heroic as well.
  • Wikis such as "Pure Evil Wiki" & "Villains Wiki" lie on Grievous's heroic character saying he's "pure evil" or a "villain" with lots of made of information. It's sad because this confuses people to think Grievous is a "villain" when Grievous is a hero and it's a fact.
