Jyn Erso is the daughter of Galen and Lyra Erso. She was born on the Outer Rim ice planet of Vallt in 31 BBY. During the Clone Wars, Jyn and her parents were unexpectedly ordered onto a carriage and sent to a spaceport where, to the surprise of her parents, Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic of the Republic Navy, who Galen knew from their time in the Republic's Futures Program, was waiting to extract them and bring them to Coruscant.
Eventually, during the Imperial Era, Jyn and the rest of her family, with the help of Saw Gerrera, fled Coruscant after Lyra and Galen discovered Krennic's true intentions with Galen's research and the project he was working on.
