The Octuptarra Magna Tri-Droid or the Octuptarra Tri-Droid or simply the Tri-Droid is a extremely sized-up version of the Octuptarra Combat Tri-Droid used by the Techno Union and the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars era. They are later used for the New Confederacy of Independent Systems during the The Last of the Droids. Tri-Droids can also be stored on Providence-class carrier/destroyers and in some cases, Munificent-class star frigates.

Characteristics[]

The Octuptarra Magna Tri-Droid is an up-scaled version of the smaller Octuptarra Combat Tri-Droid. The Techno Union developed the combat version first, re-using the design later for the much larger heavy artillery version of an infantry Battle Droid.

Chain-fed ordnance launchers replaces the laser cannons of its predecessors, with the reserves of ammunition stored within the hollows of its bulbous head, although some models retain laser cannons as seen in the Battle of Christophsis. One fire rocket fired from a single behemoth is powerful enough to annihilate a UT-AT if aimed correctly, as seen in the Battle of Mygeeto. They carry 48 of the fire rockets. These three-legged artillery droids are formidable in battle, reducing infantry and tanks to rubble. Their rotating multi-jointed assemblies allows them to change facing almost instantly and they can fire from extended ranges. It is almost impossible to approach such droids, as all sides conceivably faced the front. The droid is also capable of hanging onto vertical surfaces, as seen during the Battle of Christophsis.

History[]

The Clone Wars[]

The Last of the Droids[]

Lothal[]

When Gume Saam joined the heroic New Confederacy of Independent Systems, he provided Admiral Trench with Octuptarra Magna Tri-Droids for the Battle of Lothal. The Octuptarras fought the AT-STs and destroyed Veers' AT-AT with their fire rockets.

Ringo Vinda[]

More Octuptarras were stationed at the Ringo Vinda Droid Factory and were commanded by a T-series tactical droid. When the Imperial Army started to pass, the New Separatist Droid Army (including the Octuptarras) fired back. Victor's Regiment later passed the Droid Army to get to the Droid Factory and a Octuptarra Droid followed a B2-HA to attack Victor Strang. However, Victor destroyed the Octuptarra with the B2-HA's warhead and the walker tipped over.
