The Sheathipede-class transport shuttle shortened to the Sheathipede-class shuttle, or commonly known as the CIS Shuttle is a shuttle used to carry biological people and Battle Droids during the Clone Wars era for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They later on make a comeback for the New Confederacy of Independent Systems for Trench and his droid armies.
Characteristics[]
Sheathipedes are shaped like soldier beetles, and their clawfooted landing legs can only settle down on hard surfaces. This is due to the businessmen's distaste for dealing with poor, underdeveloped worlds. These shuttles can have their cockpits removed and replaced by automated pilots, so that cabin space could be increased but not often. The Sheathipede-class shuttle was a short-range ship, used only for planetary travel or to ferry passengers to and from an orbital space station or starship such as the Ringo Vinda Space Station and the Providence-class carrier/destroyer.
The main variant of the Sheathipede-class has several laser cannons and a seat for a gunner next to the OOM Pilot Droid, thus widening the cockpit. Due to the additional armament on the dorsal fin, the communications antenna is shortened. The Sheathipede bears a resemblance to the larger Neimoidian trader, the Maxillipede Shuttle and the Class Type B Escort Shuttle.
